Often, immigration attorneys recognize the value of an evaluation once they become more familiar with their client’s case.  Accordingly, they advise their clients to undergo a psychological evaluation but offer no further guidance.  Clients are then left to find a practitioner that will evaluate and attest to their condition or psychological state of functioning. 

Sadly, a high majority of medical and mental health professionals have no understanding of what is needed or how to best assess the client for purpose of the evaluation.  Those that have some familiarity with the process will often write a brief description of the client’s condition.  Unfortunately, such an assessment simply does not suffice.
